| 1. CARDING
FIBERS |
The carding fiber is a mixture of polyester fibers
with different deniers (fineness) and form part
of the combinations of hollow, solid and silicone
hollow fibers.
With a view to obtaining an optimum resilience or
spring, high resilience fibers are selected. The
mixture of fibers is submitted to a process of opening
and carding, which consists in breaking up the fibers
and in arranging them in parallel; this process
increases their resilience or spring. The addition
of silicone to the fiber increases the smoothness
of the mixture.
